Mr. Earl Aguilera
Mr. Aguilera received his BA in English from St. Joseph’s University. He joined Christ the King Prep in September, 2008. He teaches English 10 and English 11. Mr. Aguilera challenges his students to “become readers of the world around them, as well as of the words in a book; to become not only skilled essayists and storytellers, but writers of their own destinies.”
Minister Flora B. Baldwin
Minister Baldwin joined Christ the King Prep as guidance counselor, following six years in a similar position for grades K-8 with the Newark Public School System. Prior to that, she spent 25 years in government/civil service in various aspects of Federal and Local Housing and Community Development. Minister Baldwin holds a BS in Secondary Art Education from Hampton University in Virginia and an M.Ed. from Seton Hall University. In addition, she has 68 credits towards a Masters of City and Regional Planning from Rutgers University – Blaustein School of Planning. Minister Baldwin is a candidate for a Master’s in Theological Studies at Drew University Seminary in spring 2010. She is certified as a guidance counselor and as an art educator. Minister Baldwin is also an associate minister at St. Paul Baptist Church, Montclair, NJ.
Ms. Elizabeth Beaugard, RN
Ms. Beaugard is a graduate of the Holy Name Hospital School of Nursing in Teaneck, NJ. A registered nurse for a number of years, she joined the Essex Regional Educational Services Commission eight years ago. She joined Christ the King Prep in September, 2008, as the school nurse. CTK Prep is one of four schools that she serves. Ms. Beaugard owns a farm in Flemington, NJ, where she raises sheep, goats and chickens.
Ms. Eileen Brown
Ms. Brown’s undergraduate education was completed at Fordham University where she was awarded a BA in Art History with a minor in History. She is currently studying at Seton Hall University and is a candidate for a MA in Education. She joined Christ the King Prep in the spring of 2008 as a volunteer. Ms. Brown currently teaches US History I and II. She would like her students to take away from her class that “perseverance pays off and that every set back is a reason to keep moving forward.”
Mr. Salvatore Clappsy, Jr.
Mr. Clappsy received his BA, as well as his MS in Educational Technology from New Jersey City University. In addition, he has Telecommunications Technical Certification from DeVry University. Prior to joining the faculty at Christ the King Prep in September, 2007, Mr. Clappsy taught general science, biology and computer technology at St. Vincent Academy and Livingston High School. He also has experience teaching science at the 7th and 8th grade level while on staff at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School in Bayonne. Mr. Clappsy teaches Biology and Physical Science at Christ the King Prep and is the faculty advisor to the Chess Club. His other interests include coaching/officiating in the recreation league in Bayonne and spending time with his daughter.
Mr. James A. Cochran
Mr. Cochran holds a BS in Diplomacy & International Relations with minors in both French and Economics from Seton Hall University. In addition, he was awarded a MA in Diplomacy & International Relations, with concentrations in Global Health & Human Security and Africa as a region and a MA in Education also from Seton Hall University. Mr. Cochran joined Christ the King Prep in September, 2007, and teaches Western Civilization and US History I. He has an “abiding love of learning new concepts and subjects” and works “to cultivate that love in my students.”
Ms. Kelliann Coleman
Ms. Coleman, an alumni of St. Peter’s College and volunteer through the Jesuit Volunteer Program, holds a BA in English and a BA in Spanish Literature. In September, 2009, she began her first year as a teacher at Christ the King Prep. Her classes include Spanish I and English Skills. Ms. Coleman’s number one priority is her “availability to and the education of the students of Christ the King.”
Mr. Kevin Cuddihy, MEd, PD
Mr. Cuddihy, Principal at Christ the King Prep, joined the staff in August, 2007. He earned his BA from Connecticut University and his MEd and PD from Fordham University. He served at Xavier High School in Manhattan for nine years as Assistant Dean and four years as Dean. He served as Principal at St. Peter’s Preparatory Jesuit High School in Jersey City for four years before accepting his current position at Christ the King Prep. He coordinates all student and academic programs at Christ the King Prep.
Mr. Michael Gambone
Mr. Gambone, a Philadelphia native, graduated with a BA in Theology, Philosophy and Faith Justice Studies from Saint Joseph University. He is currently enrolled at Fordham University where he is pursuing an MA in Religious Education, while he is simultaneously working towards his certification in adolescent catechesis from the University of Dayton. Mr. Gambone joined Christ the King Prep in 2008, as a member of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. Now a full-time faculty member, he teaches Theology to freshman, sophomores and juniors. He assists with campus ministry, co-moderates the Student Activities Committee and is the advisor to the C.I.A. – Community in Action student service organization. He is also a diehard Phillies fan.
Fr. Gregory Gebbia, OFM, MDiv, MA
Fr. Gebbia, a Franciscan priest with the Order of Friars Minor, serves as Associate Principal for Student Affairs at Christ the King Prep. He received his BA in History from Quincy University, Quincy, IL and his MDiv from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. In addition, he holds an MA in Theology from Fordham University in NY. Fr. Gebbia taught at Padua Franciscan High School in Parma, OH and at Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood, MA. He has also served as parochial vicar and director of liturgy at several parishes in the tri-state area. He has had ministerial experience in Mexico and Zimbabwe.
Mr. Gregory Kornegay
Mr. Kornegay, an educator with five years of teaching experience, holds a BA in Economics from Rutgers University. A faculty member since September, 2009, he teaches Math Basic Skills, Algebra I and Algebra II. Mr. Kornegay describes himself as “a compassionate and fun spirited educator who is dedicated to empowering inner city youth.” He sees Christ the King as “the perfect fit for me!”
Ms. Ingrid C. Morin
Ms. Morin holds a BA from College of Mt. Saint Vincent. Prior to joining the Christ the King Prep faculty in September, 2009, she taught elementary school for eight years in NYC and for six years in Dover, NJ. Previously Ms. Morin was also on the faculty at Morris Catholic High School in Denville, NJ. Ms. Morin teaches Theology 10 and 11 and Spanish 2 at CTK Prep, while she is working towards her master’s degree in Bi-lingual Education. She shares that she is “blessed to be a member of CTK’s family and can’t wait to see all the places our kids will go in the near future!”
Mrs. Veronica Ortega
Mrs. Ortega, a life-long resident of Newark, joined the staff in September, 2007. A product of primary and secondary Catholic education, she firmly believes in its values and the mission of Christ the King Prep. Her many years of experience in human resources and office management have served her well in her position as Academic Registrar. Mrs. Ortega assists administration, helps to facilitate school events, coordinates student services, handles student records and processes report cards.
Mr. William Osborne
Mr. Osborne graduated with a BA in English Literature from Saint Peter’s College and currently teaches English I and English III. He joined the faculty in September, 2009. Mr. Osborne wishes to “motivate and excite students about literature, writing and education in general by using innovative, flexible and fun teaching techniques.” He believes that “a classroom should be a fun, warm and safe place for all students” and hopes to “create and environment that helps the students create new ideas and flourish as young adults and scholars.”
Mr. Jorge Manuel Rafael Pérez
Mr. Pérez received his AB degree in mathematics from Princeton University. An original member of the Christ the King Prep faculty, Mr. Pérez teaches Algebra I and Geometry. His goal is “to make sure that each of my students is well prepared for college level mathematics.”
Sr. Kathleen Reilly, CSAC
Sister Kathleen is a member of the Sisters of the Catholic Apostolate, which is part of the Union of Catholic Apostolate. She holds a BA from Fordham University in NY and an MA from the City University of New York – Hunter College. With more than 20 years experience at the high school level, Sister Kathleen has been involved in Catholic education since 1963. Sister became familiar with the Cristo Rey network of schools through various magazine articles and had said if ever she had the opportunity to teach at a Cristo Rey school she would. This became a reality for her when she joined the staff at Christ the King Prep in September, 2009. Sister Kathleen teaches Chemistry and Physical Science and is the coordinator of the Pathways to Success scholarship program.
Mr. Carl Ruggero
Mr. Ruggero holds a BA in Physical Education from Kean University in Union, NJ. He joined the faculty at Christ the King Prep in September, 2009, to teach Health. He also serves as the athletic trainer. Mr. Ruggero was the athletic trainer for Irvington High School for a number of years and at Seton Hall Preparatory School in West Orange, NJ prior to that.
Mr. Guillermo Sanchez
Mr. Sanchez came to the United States from Cuba in 1980. He holds a BA in Philosophy from St. Vincent DePaul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach, FL. Mr. Sanchez joined the staff at Christ the King Prep in January, 2009. Prior to that he taught at St. Aloysius High School in Jersey City. He also taught as a missionary in both Puerto Rico and Mexico. Mr. Sanchez teaches Spanish I, II and III and is the faculty advisor for Amnesty International club.
Mr. Edward Santana, MAEd
Mr. Santana has served Christ the King Prep as Associate Principal for Academics since September, 2007. He holds a BBA in International Marketing from CUNY-Baruch College, NY and a MAED in Educational Leadership from Seton Hall University. Mr. Santana retired with the rank of Petty Officer, 3rd Class from the Naval Reserves in 2005. Prior to coming to Christ the King Prep, he was the Dean of Academics at St. Mary of the Assumption High School in Elizabeth, NJ. In addition, he served, first as Assistant Principal, and then was promoted to Acting Principal, at St. Anthony High School in Jersey City. Mr. Santana is the Athletic Coordinator and the faculty advisor for the Talent Show.
