How to Apply
Thank you for your interest in becoming a student at Christ the King Prep, “The School that Works” in Newark!
We are now accepting applications for students who will be entering the 9th grade in September 2010.
Please note: all applicants must be 14 years old by September 1, 2010.
To begin the application process, please follow the steps below. All documents are in PDF format, viewable with Adobe Acrobat Reader.
1. Please download and print our Admissions Process page containing the checklist of items needed, the official application (2 pages), and the Student Questionnaire (2 pages)
2. Ask your current English or Math teacher to complete the Teacher Recommendation form. Ask your Principal or Guidance Counselor to complete the Character Reference form. Their recommendations should be sent directly to the Admissions Office at Christ the King Prep.
3. Complete the application obtained in Step. 1. Please note: you will also need to submit the following documents:
A copy of your birth certificate
A copy of your Social Security card (required for the Corporate Internship Program, CIP)
If you are not a citizen, a copy of your visa, resident alien card, or permanent resident card (required for CIP)
A copy of your NJ State health and immunization records (from your current school)
4. Download and complete the Records and References Release Form and give it to the Principal or Guidance Counselor at your current school. We require:
A copy of your most recent report card (FINAL 8th grade report cards must be submitted in June.)
A copy of your 6th and 7th grade transcripts – previous 2 years for transfers
A copy of your 6th and 7th grade standardized test scores – previous 2 years for transfers
A copy of your IEP, if applicable
5. Please call the Admissions Office at 973.483.0033 x306 or x317 to obtain a Private School Aid Service (PSAS) Student Aid form, or download it from the website.
Because CTK has a mission to serve only low and moderate-income families, the PSAS form is a required part of the admissions process regardless of whether or not a family is applying for financial assistance.
All Student Aid forms, along with the parent or guardian’s most recent 1040 tax return and W2s, should be mailed directly to PSAS at the address listed at the bottom of page 4 on the PSAS form. Forms are available in both English and Spanish.
6. Once you have submitted the above materials, please call the Admissions Office to set up a parent-student interview.

During the winter and spring, decisions are made on a ‘rolling’ basis. Prospective students are generally notified approximately two weeks after all of the above steps have been completed.
