Welcome! Helping to change the lives of motivated high school students who aspire to attend and graduate from college, but whose families lack the financial resources to enroll their children in a private preparatory school, can be accomplished in many ways. By becoming a corporate sponsor, you will witness for yourself the value you add to our student's lives by creating an opportunity for them to learn about the world of business, while at the same time receiving a quality college preparatory education. For the Corporate Internship Program, our top priorities are safety, discipline, and education. We help our corporate sponsors to mentor and develop the business leaders of the future. In exchange, your business or non-profit organization will become a key catalyst in the continued development of a rich talent pool of skilled, motivated employees. The first step: take action. Please contact Sandra Lerner, Director of the Corporate Internship Program at 973-483-0033.
A Model of Success Cristo Rey Network Schools bill themselves as "schools that work." This is, quite literally, the truth. A Cristo Rey Network high school provides high quality, private, college preparatory education to low income students. The bedrock of a Cristo Rey Model high school is the Corporate Internship or "work" program which places students into entry level positions and generates much needed revenue for the school. When they reach full enrollment, Cristo Rey Network high schools aim to cover more than 85% of their operating expenses through the work program and a modest tuition. By partnering with local business and not-for-profit organizations, Cristo Rey model schools are changing the face of urban education in the United States. The Corporate Internship Program is a win-win situation. It's a win for students and it's a win for the organizations employing them. By assuming the role of an employee leasing agency, Cristo Rey Network high schools have streamlined the process for employing their students. The students are not on the payroll of the employing organization. Rather they are employees of the school’s separately incorporated work-study or corporate internship program, which the sponsoring organization pays quarterly, annually or monthly for the services of the students. The impact of this innovative program on student achievement has been so outstanding, that the Cristo Rey model now stands as a shining example of what can be achieved when educators join forces with business leaders. How It Works Christ the King Prep’s unique Corporate Work Study Program enables our students to earn most of the cost of their education, while at the same time introducing them to some of the most prestigious corporations and not for profit institutions in the Greater Newark area.
