HOW IT WORKS
“There is no substitute for experience.”
With these few words, Christ the King Prep graduates will be able to answer successfully one of the most frequently asked interview questions:
“Why should I hire you?”
It is widely recognized that employers and college admissions counselors view experience in the marketplace as a major plus when considering hiring or college acceptance. Graduates of Christ the King Prep will be able to provide a truly impressive answer, after four years of administrative work in corporate offices.
The Corporate Internship Program combines two contemporary concepts in the workplace:
Job Sharing and Employee Leasing.

Education & a Brighter Future
• Sponsoring companies contract with the Christ the King Prep Corporate Internship Program to fill full-time, entry-level jobs in their offices
• Students are employees of the Corporate Internship Program, not the sponsors
• The Corporate Internship Program handles all employee issues
• The program runs annually from the day after Labor Day through the end of the third week in June
• Students assign their earnings to Christ the King Prep to pay for a significant percentage of the cost of their education
• Students receive a college preparatory education they previously could not afford, while gaining valuable job experience

IT BENEFITS ALL
For Sponsors
• Diversity is enhanced as entry-level positions are filled with capable young men and women from inner-city families
• The program brings pride to companies, knowing that they are making a difference in the lives of students with limited economic resources
• It saves businesses money, since the cost of the team is less than one full-time employee
• It stabilizes high turnover positions and reduces burnout in full-time staff. The most talented workers in the next wave of the labor force can be identified, trained and eventually hired
For Students
• The program helps students to acquire skills and dispositions necessary for success in the workplace
• It gives them the self-efficacy and sense of agency they need to dream about a viable, productive future
• It acquaints them with a world that is probably unknown to them, increasing their chances of staying in school and connecting with that world after college
• Students learn the value of work and that employment is a privilege
For the School
• It allows us to serve in a community where resources are most scarce, and most needed
• It helps us to provide a rigorous college preparatory curriculum to students in a faith-filled, values-oriented environment
• The program makes REAL education happen by linking “real world” work experience with academic learning
For Society
• It provides greater potential for keeping a highly-educated, productive workforce in New Jersey after college
WHAT IT MEANS
The Corporate Internship Program positions students for a brighter, more hopeful future, by enabling them to develop self-confidence, build self-esteem, develop life-long mentoring relationships and to recognize opportunity.
