Campus Ministry – Liturgy
Liturgy is the ‘work’ of God’s people. At Christ the King Prep students and faculty are actively encouraged to take part in planning and assisting in our liturgies and school-wide prayer. These include both celebrations of our Catholic Christian faith at Mass and ecumenical and inter-faith prayer services that honor the lived faith experiences of our religiously diverse student body.
A Mass of the Holy Spirit is celebrated every September to pray for wisdom and guidance in the academic year ahead. Mass is also celebrated on Ash Wednesday and all Holy Days of Obligation, including All Saints’ Day (Nov. 1), the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception (Dec. 8), and Ascension Thursday (forty days after Easter). There are also special observances for the Feast of All Souls/El Día de los Muertos on November 2.
An interfaith prayer service is celebrated annually the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. An ecumenical Christmas service is held the day before Christmas vacation. Lenten observances include weekly school-wide prayer services and a Holy Week observance the Wednesday before Easter.
Additionally, the CTK community gathers for prayer during times of great significance to its student body. For example, a prayer service was held in January to pray for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti, especially relatives of our Haitian students who were killed or injured in the disaster.
